Personal Care Aide (PCA)

Job Type: Full-Time and Part-Time Openings

The Personal Care Aide provides personal care and other services to residents in a safe efficient manner, according to the policies and procedures of the Country Manor retirement residence.

 The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Assists and attends to residents’ special needs as required;

Provides food preparation, dining room service, busing and dishwashing services in accordance with established work routines;

Provides personal laundry services for residents in accordance with established work routines;

Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner;

Operates and cleans equipment, furniture and cleans and maintains all resident areas as per work routines;

Provides medications (*if certified) to residents according to the residence’s policies and procedures for medication administration;

Performs other related duties as required.

 

The ideal candidates will possess:

Previous work experience in providing laundry, food or personal care services;

Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent;

Post secondary education in related care fields [e.g. Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Aide (HCA) preferred.

Ability to read and communicate effectively;

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;

Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors;

Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills;

Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints;

Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness;

Must be able to operate related equipment.

Candidates must be available to work days, evenings and weekends.

Cook

Job Type: Full-Time  and Part-Time

The Cook is responsible for ensuring that delicious, healthy and proper meals are prepared and served on time to our residents and guests and ensures  that work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.

The responsibilities of our Cook include:

Prepares meals for residents and guests ensuring dietary needs are met;

Ensures residents are satisfied with all aspects of food preparation and presentation;

Operates and cleans food production equipment and food preparation areas;

Reports directly to the Food Service Manager.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Previous experience in a volume food preparation environment, preferably but not required in the health care or hospitality industry;

Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness;

Customer service orientation.

Candidates must be available to work days, evenings and weekends.

Volunteers are so important in so many ways to our residents at The Durand Retirement Residence. We are always looking for caring and compassionate people who are eager to make a difference in a senior’s life.

If you are looking for meaningful ways to contribute your skills or your time for our seniors, we are always willing to have your help. You can make a difference by becoming a: 

Volunteer Recognition

Every effort is made to ensure that volunteer achievements and contributions are recognized and rewarded.  Volunteers are honoured at the annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony each spring. Volunteers with 100+ hours of volunteer service per year become a 100 Club Member and are recognized in our quarterly Volunteer Newsletter.  Volunteers are also welcome to relax and have a coffee or tea in the Volunteer Lounge, which is open each day.

Volunteers may request a letter which captures their hours of service for reference or school purposes.
